A man is found dead lying in a pool of red, with a small wooden stick in his hand.

What happened? (Think creatively here!)

He was painting with red paint, perhaps on a ladder, when he slipped and fell onto the already spilled paint.
The small stick is a paint brush.

he was baking a red velvet cake and the bowl of batter fell on him, the wooden stick is the spoon he was using to mix the cake batter.
