I love to see books turn into movies: if the movie’s great, then it gives me another way to see the book. If the movie sucks, then I have something to complain about. Percy Jackson, I still throw tomatoes at. Scott Pilgrim, I worship (the music, something the book obviously lacked, really helped make the movie).
I have high hopes for the Hunger Games, though. They’re still in the middle of filming, so that teaser isn’t anything to go by. They’ve got a good budget, an unknown for Katniss, and someone I actually like playing Peeta (Josh Hutcherson? Good! Peeta? BAD.)… I loved the novels EXCEPT for the romance. Everything felt unnatural about it – I hope the movie can make up for that. I’m looking forward to it.
