A man is lying dead in a dark room. There is a large pile of gold and jewels on the floor, a chandelier attached to the ceiling, and a large window through which rays are coming.

What’s going on? How did he die? Leave comments with your theories!

(Where in Westerville answer for September 28: The photo was taken at a corporate building on the corner of Cleveland Avenue and County Line Road — I can’t remember the name — but Luke guessed it!)

Today’s joke, in honor of LOL @ Your Library and Teen Read Week, goes like this:

Q: What do you call cheese that doesn’t belong to you?

A: NACHO CHEESE!!

…sorry, I never said it wasn’t “cheesy.” Leave a comment with your favorite joke!

Sand Beasts.

This video will blow your mind. It’s one of those see-it-to-believe it kind of things. Artist/engineer Theo Jansen makes his “sand beasts” out of plastic pipe and things he finds on the beach. They move on their own using wind power: science fiction in real life. This ain’t your father’s tinker toys!

Read more about Theo Jansen from NPR and Wired.

This made me laugh…and you will, too, if you’ve ever used those short pencils in the library.

“I’ll never take short pencils for granted again!” LOL!

You guys know Westerville pretty well! Last week’s photo was the Westerville BMX/Skateboard Park at Schrock and Park Meadow Road. Luke, magz, and Hannah all guessed it!

So where in Westerville was this photo taken?

That dress is made of toilet paper!

toilet-paper-wedding-dress.bmp

Cheapchicweddings.com runs a yearly contest — making a wedding dress out of only toilet paper, glue, and tape.

If I did that, the bride would look like a mummy, but take a look at some of the beautiful entries!

I’m sure they cost less than a “real” wedding dress…but I hope it doesn’t rain! :) Thanks to Marisa for the link. Hmm…should we have a creative fashion contest at the library??

Some new slang

Posted on September 10th, 2007 by Becky.

There was recently an article in the New York Times that listed some new txt/online slang terms I hadn’t heard yet. What do you think of these? Got any more new ones that you use?

FCAO – Five conversations at once

IIOYT – Is it on YouTube?

NBL – No battery left

DYFH – Did you Facebook him/her?

JUOC – Jacked up on caffeine (my favorite!)

(Last week’s answer: It’s a chess game – knight jumps over rook to take pawn. Emily, Laurin, and Sarah all guessed it!)

This week, we have a new twist on the mystery, continued from the Summer Reading Blog.

Can you guess where in Westerville this photo was taken? Leave a comment with your best theory!

Art on a dirty car?

Most of us probably write “Wash Me!” when we see a dirty car, but not Scott Wade. He’s got it down to an art. Check out his web site!

A horse jumps over a tower and lands on a man, who disappears.

What’s going on?

(Last week’s answer: The man was an astronaut out on a space walk. Meo, Evan, and Sarah guessed it exactly, and Lily and Jenna were close enough! Great job!!)

A man was doing his job when he noticed a tear in this clothing. 15 minutes later, he was dead.

What happened?

(Last week’s answer: A baseball game is going on. The base-runner sees the catcher waiting at home plate with the ball, and so decides to stay at third base to avoid being tagged out. Evan, Meo, and Sarah all guessed it! Piece of cake!)

Joe wants to go home, but he can’t go home, because the man in the mask is waiting for him.

What’s going on?

(Last week’s answer: It is a painting of Henry VIII. No one guessed it!)

(Previous week’s answer: The man falls off the river bank and drowns. Jenna guessed it!)
