Teen Volunteers are an essential part of running the Library’s Summer Reading Program. Summer volunteers must attend at least one orientation. Even if you have volunteered in the past, or come to Volunteer Training during the school year, there is new information every summer.
The dates are listed below, and can also be found on the calendar of events at www.westervillelibrary.org. (Please note: volunteering will not be divided into two sessions this year. Once you attend an orientation, you can sign up for the entire summer!)
Saturday, May 28, 1-2 p.m. in the Meeting Rooms
Thursday, June 2, 5-6 p.m. in the Meeting Rooms
Monday, June 6, 4-5 p.m. in the Meeting Rooms
Saturday, June 25, 3-4 p.m. in the Meeting Rooms
Bring your summer calendar to sign up for shifts and special events. Volunteer hours at our summer reading sign-up table may be limited to 8 per week (subject to change depending on volunteer turnout).
Summer Reading Kickoff Day is Thursday, June 9, and it looks like it’s going to be a great summer! Hope to see you soon!!
Did you know that students from our own Walnut Springs Middle School are hosting a community Walk-a-Thon today? It’ll benefit a health clinic in Piol, Sudan. This health clinic was created by Jok Dau and Bol Aweng, two Lost Boys of Sudan, who have recently graduated from OSU. They currently live in Columbus, but still want to help the people of their hometown by providing vaccines for children there.
Though the Walk-a-Thon began at 8 a.m. this morning, community members can still donate online at www.sudanclinic.org. 100% of donations will benefit the clinic and are tax-deductible.
