Attention Teen Volunteers! We have a new spot to check for monthly volunteer opportunities — look at the top right of the blog for “Teen Volunteer Opportunities” by the blue star.

At the beginning of each month, check this box — I’ll link to a form full of events you can help with. For March, be sure to check out our special program Tunes & Tales on March 27.

As always, you can also use the linked form to choose your own hours to help with shelving (and help with special projects if needed). If you choose your own hours, I’ll email you to confirm.

Be sure to mark your calendar! :)

Calling all Teen Volunteers – interested in helping out at the Library this month? CLICK HERE for a list of children’s events that need your help! Fill out your name, contact info, and which events you want to help with, and I’ll get in touch with you. Be sure to mark your calendar!

Want to help out in other ways? You can make your own schedule, working 1 or 2 hours at a time in the Youth department. Sometimes we have special projects, but when we don’t, we can always use help shelving. If interested, email me (Becky) at boneil@westervillelibrary.org.

Not sure what the heck I’m talking about?! Check our online calendar for the next Teen Volunteer Training, and pick up a Teen Volunteer Application next time you’re in the library.

What’s the POA, you ask? It’s the Protection of Animals web site, and it was started by animal<3, a local Westerville teen and Library Teen Volunteer.

animal<3 says,

Hi! Here is a great website my friend and I made discussing animal rights. You can join our group by going to the Contact Us page. We will gladly accept!

Thanks for the tip, animal<3! Visit the site today!

Evolve this summer & VOLUNTEER at the library!

Posted on May 30th, 2008 by Becky.
Categories: All posts, Events, Teen Volunteers.

Want to earn some brownie points? Want an excuse to get out of the house? Want something to put on your college applications?

Why not volunteer at the library this summer?

Simply attend one of our Teen Volunteer Orientations in June or July and you can sign up for as many or as few hours as you want! You’ll learn about our annual Summer Reading Program and how you can help. (If you come to orientation and decide it’s “not your thing”, that’s ok too. But in order to volunteer, you have to come to orientation.)

Remember, you must be between 12 & 18 years old to volunteer.

More questions? Click here to find out more about teen volunteers.

ProgressiveU

Since we were just talking about presidential candidates…

Here’s a site that calls itself “the antidote to MySpace.”

ProgressiveU allows teens to think, speak up, and reach out.

We provide a community space where you’re more than a face (in a book). You’ll feel refreshed, invigorated, and empowered after blogging, discussing, and debating with other students like you, who care about more than who did what at the last party.

Seems like a good forum to get your voice heard, make a difference, and be inspired by other teens who are doing the same.
