Encore Update

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

We will be getting some updates on our Encore testing catalog. Listed below are the main features you’ll notice:

  1. Improved 856 link presentation, including using the label text if provided for the link instead of just showing the URL
  2. ERM resource license information is shown in the record details display
  3. Program section information is shown in the record details display
  4. A “More Resources” link has been added to Federated Search component
  5. The Links heading on the record details display is now behaving itself
  6. The spacing in the Resource display in results has been tightened up
  7. Toggle links (e.g. Show All n Copies) now have the appropriate cursor when moused over and you can click on the text or the little triangle

As we work on the internal preview set, please keep working with the
features and let us know if you find a critical problem which prevents
their use and which doesn’t clear up within an hour or two (or which is recurrent across multiple sessions).

Congratulations to becky for her efforts on the TeenScene (Teen blog). She reached the 200th comment a couple days ago. This is the result of her commitment to update the Teen community on issues ranging from popular books, reading tips to video game events and more.

Nice Job Becky!

Encore Preview is here!!!

Friday, May 4th, 2007

We finally got green light to offer a sneak preview at what encore can do. Currently, encore can only be tested inside the library which means we can not advertise it as we would normally do. However, in the upcoming weeks we are hoping to offer Encore to a wider audience outside the library.

A web survey form has been placed underneath the Encore logo. Please click on it and tell us about your experience with it. Your feedback will help us in providing feedback to Encore’s development team back in sunny California. The url is:

http://www.westervillelibrary.org/encore/survey_form.htm

Please let patrons know about Encore and encourage the use of it as it will eventually be part of your tool kit in providing resources to users.

Questions and/or comments? Post it here on the blog…
