Brandon is working on the content right now so there is not a lot to see but we are hoping to have something more tangible to show by next week.

You may be wondering what’s Staffipedia? Think wikipedia for the Westerville Public Library employees. This effort will involve a community based knowledge. Topics will include orientation of new employees, policies, how to answer patron’s most difficult questions, best practices on millennium (circulation, program registration, etc), Software tutorials and much more.
Initial inclusion of content has been assigned to Brandon. He will be working on it this week so if you have ideas for content please feel to post a comment. Once we have a basic structure in place (i.e. orientation, manuals, etc) it will be open for staff to add/edit content. Karen will be assisting with initial content as well.
The ideal scenario for this tool is to provide a strong reference of knowledge in case your manager and/or senior staff member is not around.
We’re hoping to have a basic structure in place in a week or two so we can show you a sneak preview.

Tamara asked a really good question last week in regard to Research Pro:
“Is it possible to limit all results from databases like UMI/Proquest and EbscoHOST to Full Text articles only?”
We went ahead and mentioned her point to the Research Pro team. They liked the idea overall and had mixed answers about the topic. They discussed about the following points:
Option three seems to be the solution most people on the group agreed on. However, I would like to hear your approach to Tamara’s question. We will be meeting with the Research Pro Team this coming Thursday over the phone at 11:00 a.m.

In addition to be able to email the results to your email account, you will now enjoy a better and cleaner display when browsing through your saved search results. On a related note, we are working on improving the loading time for the default databases on the initial results screen. We would like to hear from you about suggestions (i.e what databases would work better on an initial search, which ones would you add/remove, etc..).
Give a try to this new enhancement and let us know how it works for you!!
From now on you’ll be able to filter your results by relevance, date or title. The feature will only display whenever you perform a keyword search. The new feature is located underneath the search tool (on the results page). To see your results displayed by relevance (which is the default) click on the “relevance” link, click on the “date” if you prefer your results sorted by date and of course, the “title” link for those of you who preferred title display rather than keyword.
Start by performing a keyword search from the library website or the catalog homepage
Once there, you’ll see the available sorting options underneath the search bar. A simple click on any of the options will re-sort the results for you without having to start a new search all over again. We are really excited about this enhancement (as you can see…), what about you?
