Cynthia:

Thank you so much for your comments. We do indeed have an active and vibrant volunteer program. Currently, we have over 40 volunteers that assist our librarians in delivering the quality services our customers have come to expect.

Without their support and assistance, we could not continue to meet the high demand for our services. Each year demand and use of the library has increased by 8%-10%. This coupled with an 11% decrease in staff, makes our volunteer program even more critical. Anyone interested in volunteering at the library should call
(614) 882-7277, Extension 158 to set-up an interview and get started.

Please let us know if scheduled volunteers would help so the employees would be able to function as facilitators in the programs and more complex roles in the library? If so, would it be feasible to implement a strong drive for volunteers at this point? Thank you!

Yvonne:

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. As you can imagine, we continue to investigate all means possible to reduce costs without cutting programs and services, as well as ways to increase revenue.

I think your idea of adopting a book is good idea. Perhaps just asking those of us who use the library, faithfully, and who appreciate the service to make a contribution to the library to help make up the difference. Some will be able to give more than others, but I believe WE, the people, can make up the difference.

Why don't you have a winetasting or other fund raising ideas. There is so much you can do to with us to make up the difference. Perhaps, we can be an example to other communities on how we can contribute to our libraries, which is very very important to soooo many of us.
