Summer Reading Program: Demystified
Looking to solve the mystery about our Summer Reading Program? Stop in beginning June 11th to sign up for one of our three Summer Reading Programs! Get a Clue (for ages birth to 12), You Never Know (for teens) and Better Read than Dead (for adults) all provide the opportunity to read great books and win prizes! If you can’t make it to the library on the 11th, don’t worry! You can register any time until the end of the program. So, what do you have to lose?
How It Works (for Adults)
Step #1 - Sign up. Beginning June 11th, you can sign up by calling 614-882-7277 ext. 3, or by stopping at the Ask Here desk at the library. (By phone or in person does not require a library card.) Just for signing up, you’ll receive a coupon for free Graeter’s Ice Cream!
Step #2 - Read books or listen to audiobooks. Any book counts. (It does not have to be a library book, though we certainly don’t discourage it!)
Step #3 - Write reviews! You can pick up review forms at the Ask Here desk and drop the entries off in the clear box at the top of the stairs, or you can do it all online! (For online reviews, simply search for the title of the book you read, click on the Write-A-Review option on the left-hand side of the screen, and type in your name and library card number. As a bonus, your review will be posted for all to read!)
Step #4 - Sit back and enjoy! If you win any of our weekly drawings, or any of our grand prizes, you will receive a phone call letting you know. Click here to find out what you might win!
How It Works (for Teens)
Step #1 - Stop in the library between June 11th and August 12th to pick up your log at the Summer Reading Program table.
Step #2 - Read whatever. Books, magazines, newspapers, billboards, blog posts. You name it. Looking for suggestions? Check out the Teenscene blog.
Step #3 - Keep track of how many hours you read on your log. When you’ve read for 15 hours, your name goes in a drawing for a $5 gift card. When you’ve read 30 hours, your name goes in a drawing for a $25 gift card. (The stakes are getting higher!) For every 10 hours you read past the 30-hour mark, your name goes in a drawing for the grand prize of an iPod nano!
Step #4 - Every time you stop in the library, take your log to the Summer Reading Program table in the Youth Services Department to make sure your name goes into the drawing for prizes.
