As Seen on TV: Analog Goes Digital
March 5th, 2008
You may have seen these ads and panicked. Analog TV is going the way of the dinosaur. All television broadcasts in the U.S. will stop broadcasting in analog and switch to 100% digital broadcasting on February 17, 2009.
Why? Digital broadcasting promises to provide a clearer picture and more programming options and will free up airwaves for use by emergency responders.
What should you do? If you have an analog TV, you can purchase a TV converter box to make it compatible with digital broadcasting. If you have analog cable or satellite service, you must contact your provider. Or, you can purchase a television with a digital tuner.
Check out the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s site on Digital Television Transition and Public Safety for more information.
